Official modding tools first launched for the PC version of Fallout 4 back in April and came to the Xbox One in May.
"After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition," Bethesda says. It effectively neuters a vast majority of either game's more hilarious user creations like wrestler Macho Man Randy Savage replacing Fallout 4's towering Deathclaw enemies, among others.Despite its original plans, developer Bethesda will no longer be bringing support for mods to the PS4 version of Fallout 4 or the upcoming remastered version of Skyrim. Meaning, you can only make stuff with what's already available in the base game. Bethesda teases that 4K rendering along with better lighting and graphics are planned for Fallout 4, but that those won't arrive until work is finished on Skyrim. If you're planning to roam the irradiated Commonwealth in Fallout 4 with all the benefits PS4 Pro offers, you're going to have to wait a bit. However despite that ambiguity, when the remaster launches on October 28th it will run at native 4K resolution on the PlayStation 4 Pro - just a bit ahead of the console's November 10th release date.
